National Athletic Center

In November 2020, the construction of the National Athletic Center began in a consortium with Magyar Építők Zrt. The monolithic structure of the sports center, with a capacity of 35,000 people for the World Athletics Championships, was fitted with 48 steel roof structural elements, each weighing nearly 100 tons and 28 meters high, which was covered with nearly 27,000 square meters of membrane covering.

In addition to the sports center building, several other project elements have also been completed.  A 168-meter-long single-pylon, cable-stayed bridge structure on Osztósziget (’Divider Island’) pedestrian bridge, a new athletic training center, flood protection works, a new utility network, a new railway bridge with a span of 40 meters and landscape architecture works.

The Athletic Center and its additional project elements are being built by the ZÁÉV Zrt. - Magyar Építő Zrt. consortium.
